Memorial's Picnic at the Park

The Memorial Healthcare System's annual picnic was held last Sunday at C.B. Smith park so after attending church service, we went straight to the park. We were there also last year and I did a post on it so we already know what to expect. It was all the same kind of kids' stuff, same set of food but never the less, we still enoyed being there. We only started to attend last year since the previous years' picnics always conflicts with the schedule of our old church where we used to attend to. It was sunny but there was some breeze thus it was still a comfortable day to be out.

I decided to do the photos in B&W to lend some old school style of photojournalism to it esp. with the type of shooting I did. I don't want to spend more time if I do a slideshow thus you'd see probably too much but I also enjoyed making the photos. Kids even if they're not mine are always very good subjects especially in events like this one.

Saturday Night Dinner with Friends

We spent Saturday night having dinner with some close friends at home. Paulo and Pauline Jimenez, our Chilean friends together with their 9 month old baby Gabriel, came all the way from Kendall in Miami. Jun and Lot Dominguez also came. Gabriel is just so cute and the two kids were really looking forward to having him at home. We don't have the kids' old playpen anymore so we just laid out a sleeping bag, put a lot of soft toys and let Gabriel fascinate himself and us.

It was just a simple dinner for us. Some red cabbage and red pepper slaw, Bacalao a la Vizcaina and broiled chicken marinated adobo-style plus some wine and sweets for dessert. There's nothing like just relaxing with friends and as always we enjoyed the time together.

CRCC Kids on the Rock Sports Weekend

The kids have been going to church every Saturday morning for the KOR Sports weekend activity. It's an ongoing every Saturday one hour event that teaches the kids how to play some team sports and at the same time make sure they get their exercise plus help them get to know more kids that attend the church. Every Saturday the attendance has been growing. Missy is still a little intimidated on how to play the kind of sports that they introduce and hopefully by next week she can get rid of the 'fear factor'. They just finished playing kickball and by next week they'll me moving on to playing soccer and will do it for 3 Saturdays again before they move to a new sports. They are now looking forward to it especially that they get free snacks afterwards. Last Saturday, an ice cream truck was there ready to give them their choice ice cream after playing.
