David and Missy's First Day of School

Two extra days of vacation so their first day of school was moved to Aug. 20. Thanks to Fay but it's back to reality now for David and Missy. David is now in 4th grade and Missy is in 2nd grade. We're happy that their respective teachers are by reputation very good. We missed the deadline for requesting for a specific teacher by a day but all is well now.

Just One More for Summer...

We got invited to Lionel's 3rd birthday by Ophine's co-worker Nilda Enano and hubby Leo and the party took place in a park in Pompano Beach on Aug.16. This is summer's 'last hurrah or 'hirit' so to speak and Aug. 18 was supposedly the kids first day of school but then thanks to Tropical Storm Fay the kids enjoyed two more days of extra summer vacation. Anyway, it was a swimming party and my kids have always enjoyed the pool so off we went that day. It was a super hot day but David and Missy probably didn't feel it too much as they were too busy cooling off in the pool. Ophine and I didn't swim. I was too busy guarding the lechon, lol.

So Long Summer

Summer is just too hot here in Florida and vacation plans are usually on hold until it's winter unless we're going to the mountains out of state. David and Missy's usual summer activities are going to the mall, swimming, watching a movie, going to Chuck E. Cheese and just playing video games. A few days before the school started, Aug. 14 to be exact, we brought them to Wannado City in Sawgrass Mall. They've been there a few times and the place even had become a regular school field trip venue but we as a family hadn't been there for quite a long time. It's a nice place for kids their age as they explore grown-up jobs but in a perspective suitable for their young minds. They have become doctors, firefighters, police, pilots, etc. in the past and now they tried to be dentists, archaeologists, paleontologists, candy makers, jewelry makers, ramp model (for Missy anyway) among others. They didn't want to be actors and just opted to watch a show but Missy was chosen to be a part of a circus act. It was a long day but we did enjoy the time as a family in Wannado City.
