Hello Summer!

Yesterday, we all went to John U. Lloyd State Park in Dania Beach. The kids had been clamoring to go the beach for quite some time and we just waited for their school to end. We've been to South Beach in April when Ophine's cousins were here anyway. We haven't been to this particular beach for perhaps 2 or even 3 years now even though it's one of the closest beach around here. I particularly like this beach since not so many people visit the place and you can have some real peace and quiet unlike the more popular public beaches around here.

Well, things have changed on this state park. Gone are the numerous trees that are so close to the beach probably because of the hurricane that struck South Florida a few years ago. They removed the stumps that I saw there the last time and it was likely that a bulldozer was used to even out and clean the place. It is like the landscape had changed but the clean, uncluttered look doesn't look bad at all. I'm just missing the shade! Good that we brought our sun shelter which was especially helpful when it was getting too warm around noon. Good that the breeze was particularly strong. It was after all a nice day not forgetting the fact that it was an overcast and wet previous day.

The tide was low when we got there but it was an incoming tide and the kids had a swell time wallowing in the shallows. The surf was moderate and they were at first a little apprehensive but later on enjoyed the surf too.

For lunch, we just grilled some hotdogs and hamburgers. Brought a lot of cold drinks and that was it. A few days before Saturday, Missy thought that going to the picnic and going to the beach were two different things. Now she knows.
